Yellow umbrella-shaped flower heads, developing in midsummer, attract honeybees. Highly aromatic plant. Good companion plant for cabbage, but root secretions are said to damage carrots. Height 2-3' Spread9-12" Uses: Both seeds and leaves have sharp, slightly bitter taste. Use dried or fresh leaves, known as dillweed, to flavor fish, soups, salads, meat, poultry, omelets, and potatoes. Seeds can be used in same way, but remember that they are much stronger. Sprinkle dill on sliced cucumber to make sandwich filling. Propagating: Harvest seeds in late fall when flowers have turned brown. Sow seeds in early spring 1/4" deep in rows 9" apart. Thin established seedlings to 9"apart.
